This page is dedicated to our Sophie who defied the laws of nature and survived for 9 days on the "mean streets" of Vancouver BC after slipping her lead while visiting our fair city.
Sophie's History:
Sophie was originally found by one of our foster parents, and taken into care at their home in Kelowna BC. Sophie (not her name then) was a frightened little waif who had been used for breeding. Cocker Spaniel Rescue of BC- Okanagan site (Barry and Wendy) rehabilitated her and found her a wonderful home with Frank and Elaine.
She is dearly loved and especially loved by Frank who passed away not very long ago.
On June 11 Sophie became lost after bolting while on leash.
She ran across a busy street with Elaine in hot pursuit. Sophie just ran that much faster.
After days of searches, poster campaigns and even a plea for her return on the BCTV News.....no Sophie.
We feared the worst as she was lost in an area heavily popluated by Coyotes.
At 4:30 Friday AM, June 20th, Sophie was seen. Our Hero is Jim who saw her being hit by a car AND a truck. He went to her side, helped her to the edge of the road, solicited another couple to call the SPCA and stayed with her. He protected her from roving Coyotes that were very near to her.

Sophie was taken to the SPCA Hospital. After all of the tests were done, all she had was a swollen foot. She had NO BROKEN BONES!!!!
Amazing!!!
Sophie is now safe in the arms of her loving mum...Elaine.
